We are begining our Yatra to Palani on January 13, 2014 from Lord Saradhambal Temple, Race Course Coimbatore.

Padayatra Begins........

History

In the year 1985, five devotees made a humble start of a Pada Yatra which has grown into a 100-member strong Yatra devotees group. This Yatra has become a regular annual event for the past 21 years. A sincere attitude towards total abstinence alone qualifies a person to be a part of this Yatra group. The Yatra starts, every year, from Shri Sharadhambal Temple in Race Course, Coimbatore. For the first fifteen years the duration of the whole Yatra was three days, but taking into account of the increasing lady devotees, the Yatra duration was increased to four days.

Activities During the Total Abstinence Days of Yatra

Every year, during the days of total abstinence, pooja, bhajans and annadhanam are performed to the glory of Lord Muruga at the premises of at least fifteen devotees. During those events, devotees are edified on the importance of family values, promptitude, charity, helpfulness, civility, discipline and similar values which are essential for a peaceful and happy existence of human beings on this earth.

Activities During Yatra

Every year during the four-day Yatra, the food requirements of the Yatra devotees are lovingly provided by three kind families sanctified by the love of Lord Muruga in Pollachi, Udumalpet, Chinnakalayamputhur, Palani and also provided by devotees within the Yatra group.

Yatra reaches the scared hills of Palani

When the Yatra reaches the scared hills of Palani, the special way ticket to see Lord Muruga will be arranged by own son of Father of our goup. Using that way devotees will see the Lord Muruga's compassionate faces & get his praisings.A Vel (Weapon of Lord Muruga) which is made up of pure Silver(150 gms) will be lovingly gifted to Lord Muruga by our whole team.After that devotees will gather in the temple premises and involve in group prayer and devotionals. Following the devotionals, each member of the Yatra shares his or her purpose of the Yatra endeavour. Each purpose is understood in the light of its necessity and sincerity. All the devotees then involve in praying for the fulfillment of their Yatra purposes to Lord Muruga by observing three-minute silence.

Also the fulfillment of the previous years prayers are shared by the devotees during this occasion. It is always a humbling feeling to know that Lord Muruga answers and fulfills the prayers of the devotees who take Paada Yatra with sincerity.

Before winding up the Yatra, all the expenses related the Yatra, are discussed. Any balance of the contributions are equally divided among the devotees.

Finally, Guruswamy of the Yatra removes the sacred mala and the Yatra and the total abstience comes to an end.
